Newborn Photography FAQ
When should I book my newborn photographer?
During pregnancy, ideally in your second trimester. Most sessions book 2 to 3 months ahead. Once you're on our calendar, your date stays flexible. If your baby comes early or you need more recovery time, we simply move it.
What is the best age for newborn photos?
Most of our babies are photographed in weeks two to four. I go by weight more than age: once your baby is over about 6.5 to 7 pounds, they photograph beautifully. I work with newborns up to 8 weeks old, so you never need to rush.
How long does a newborn session take?
About three hours, always in the morning, when babies sleep best. That unhurried pace leaves room for feeding, cuddles, diaper changes, and sibling time. We never rush.
What if my baby won't settle?
In 1,300+ newborn sessions, we've never met a baby we couldn't soothe. The studio is kept warm and calm. If your baby needs a break, we pause, feed, and start again when they're ready.
Do you photograph newborns with siblings?
Yes, and it's one of our favorite parts. With five years in early childhood education, I know how to win over even the shyest toddler. Every sibling pose is supervised and spotted for safety.
Do you offer in-home newborn photography?
Yes. We bring the full studio, plus hair and makeup, to your home. It's private and convenient, and a wonderful choice if you'd rather not travel with a brand-new baby. In-home sessions are priced separately; we'll walk you through it on your call.
Do you photograph twins?
Yes. Twin newborn sessions take extra planning and extra patience, and we plan for both.
What should parents wear?
You don't need to shop. We plan outfits together at your styling consultation, and our couture wardrobe has 50+ gowns for you and your family. Hair and makeup for mom is included.
How much does newborn photography cost?
Newborn sessions start at $1,490 [CONFIRM]. Your final investment depends on the portraits and artwork you choose. We talk through everything openly on your call, so there are no surprises.
Can I book maternity and newborn together?
Yes. Many families book both, which creates one beautiful story from pregnancy to your baby's first days. Ask about our maternity + newborn collections on your call.
